DR JOHN HARRIS

Vice President, Australian National Biocentre
University of Canberra senior lecturer in ecology and environmental education, retired.

John is vice-president of the Australian National Biocentre Inc. John chairs the ANB working party developing a feasibility study to build an Australian Centre for Sustainability in Canberra. He is writing a book based on interviews with over fifty graduates of environmental science after they left the University of Canberra in the cohorts of the nineteen seventies, eighties and nineties. He has research publications on marine fish and invertebrate populations, cave dwelling bats and cave ecosystems, the environmental impacts of urbanisation in Papua New Guinea and the teaching of environmental education. He has been responsible for the design and teaching of a nationally inaugural BAppSci degree course in ecology and environmental management, and an innovative field-based postgraduate curriculum for community-based environmental education.
