PROFESSOR FRANK FENNER, AC:A virologist with an abiding interest in environmental problems. He was awarded the Albert Einstein World Award for Science 2000, the Prime Minister's Prize for Science in 2002, and ACT Australian of the Year 2003, and co-recipient of the Japan Prize (Preventive Medicine) for work on smallpox eradication 1988, among other honours. He was Director of the John Curtin School from 1967-73, and Director of the Centre of Resource and Environmental Studies in the Australian National University from 1973-79. |
