Due to strong expressions of interest, a landmark sustainable office building is likely to be included for Canberra-based firms or government agencies that wish to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. Such a building would be located either in the CBD or at the same location as the Centre.
If your organisation is willing to commit to a long term lease in exchange for a non-toxic, planet friendly pleasant working environment, please contact us shortly to secure space in the building.
Design Considerations: The following considerations apply both to the Centre and the Green Office building. The buildings will demonstrate a new form of ecologically sensitive architecture and landscaping (eco-development) that will show how buildings can:
- meet social, economic and cultural needs in addition to being eco-efficient
- improve basic environmental systems, not just reduce impacts (for example, water and air quality, energy production, soil fertility)
- meet human psychological needs (for example, places for positive social interaction, interaction with nature)
- optimise the use of urban space to increase biodiversity, natural habitats and ecosystem services (that is, not rely on the surrounding region as a source or sink)
- improve community health and welfare
- increase the conditions for biophysical-ecological welfare and increase natural capital (that is, not just respect carrying capacity)
- avoid fibres, fuels, foods, and processes that are overly linked to the fossil fuel supply chain.
